"Lethal Weapon" star Danny Glover remained cool under fire Sunday as some spectators booed him for failing to salute the flag during Utah State University's commencement ceremony. "Put your hand above your heart, Glover!" a spectator yelled during the presentation of the Stars and Stripes. Glover, who was the commencement speaker, said he meant no disrespect.

"I was listening to the national anthem and paying attention," he said. "I probably wasn't the only one in there who didn't put a hand over their heart."The intermittent booing during the graduation was largely drowned out by cheers and Glover won a standing ovation at the end of his speech. "People have problems sometimes with what I believe and who I talk to," Glover said. "I try to respect people, honor them."

All I have to say is "shame" on the people that booed. I may be able to understand their motives, but to be so intolerant during a ceremony celebrating the achievement of free thought is inexcusable. That doesn't even start to address the issue that America is supposedly the beacon of free speech... or at least that was what I was taught. I don't agree with Mr. Glover, but I support his right to do what he pleases as long as he doesn't infringe on my rights.
